Alex Ranney drove for the game-winning layup with 3.9 seconds remaining to give the Lake Mills boys basketball team a 56-54 victory over crosstown conference rival Lakeside Lutheran.
The L-Cats (11-1, 2-0) held a 52-46 lead with six minutes remaining in the game, but struggled to take care of the ball and convert free throws down the stretch, forcing Ranney's late heroics.
Ranney totaled 14 points for host Lake Mills, while J.T. Toepfer scored 18 and Brady Wagner had 16.
Cameron Kuepers erupted for 25 points for the Warriors (8-4, 1-1), and Will DeNoyer and Jack Monis scored 14 points apiece.
