Myron Ashford Jr. made a go-ahead 3-pointer with 42.1 seconds left in regulation and the Middleton boys basketball team survived with an 82-79 win over visiting Janesville Craig in a WIAA Division 1 regional final Saturday night.
Trailing by three points with three seconds left, Jake Negus made his first two free throws before missing a potential game-tying attempt that forced the Cougars (16-8) to send Middleton back to the line.
Ben Jackson made two free throws to give the Cardinals (18-6) a 3-point lead with 1.2 seconds left.
Tyree Eady scored 24 points and Storm Murphy had 19 for Middleton.
San'Trell Peyton had 22 points and Adam Anhold added 19 points to lead Craig.
