Noah Gjerom rushed for a 25-yard score, followed by a 2-point conversion, and host Deerfield defeated Oshkosh Lourdes 38-36 in overtime in a Trailways Small conference football game Friday night.
The Demons (4-5, 4-3) clinched a playoff berth with the victory. Nick Vander Grinten put Deerfield on the scoreboard first with a punt-block return for a touchdown.
The Knights (6-3, 5-2) answered back with a punt-block and score of their own to make it a one-point game. Quarterback Tyler Haak ran for a 3-yard score and Deerfield converted a 2-point play with 1:07 remaining in the fourth quarter to force overtime.
