Beaver Dam 68, Green Bay Notre Dame 40
The top-ranked Golden Beavers (25-1) are headed back to the WIAA Division 2 state tournament after a 68-40 blowout win against the Tritons (16-10) in the Kaukauna sectional.
Beaver Dam, the defending back-to-back champions, opened a 41-18 halftime lead; getting 13 points from sophomore Matyson Wilke, nine from junior Jada Donaldson, and 8 from senior Tara Stauffacher. The host Golden Beavers then used a 27-22 second-half run to down Notre Dame. Wilke finished with 19 points to lead Beaver Dam in scoring, followed by 14 from Donaldson, and 10 from Stauffacher. Senior Aly Van Loo also chipped in 10 points.
Sammy Opichka led Notre Dame with 14 points. No other Triton had more than nine points.
The Golden Beavers will play on Friday, March 8 at the Resch Center in Green Bay, looking to join the small list of teams that have won three consecutive championships.
