Wisconsin Heights @ River Valley
The River Valley girls basketball team returned to action Saturday for the first time since Dec. 18.
The rust showed in places against a strong Wisconsin Heights team that outdueled the host Blackhawks for a 54-35 victory in non-conference play.
Wisconsin Heights (8-2) played twice over the holiday break, while River Valley took some time off. Still, the Blackhawks (3-6) were able to force Vanguards scoring leader Macenzie Kraemer into first-half foul trouble and a total of 11 points, well below her team-leading average of 18.2 points entering the game.
But Haylee Adler delivered 12 points to lead the Vanguards, and Hannah Zander made a pair of 3-point baskets during an eight-point night to help Wisconsin Heights pull away.
River Valley got 13 points from Taylor Briehl and nine from Kylie Hoffman.
