Middleton 77, Janesville Craig 75, OT
?Because Alexis Thomas made a shot from at least 25 feet out at the overtime buzzer Saturday night, the Middleton girls basketball team remains alone atop the Big Eight Conference race.
Thomas, a junior guard, made her monster shot to give the Cardinals a 77-75 overtime victory over host Janesville Craig on Saturday night.
Bria Lemirande led the Cardinals with 37 points, dominating play at times. But until the very end, the Cougars stuck with Middleton.
Craig forced overtime as freshman forward Amanda Carlson scored 17 of her 19 points in the second half.
Cougars senior guard Anne Schumacher went inside for a basket and was fouled with 18.4 seconds left in overtime, but she missed the free throw, giving the Cougars a 75-74 lead and setting up Thomas' big shot.
