McFarland 51, Lodi 45
Senior guard Zach Witt made a big 3-point basket down the stretch and went 7-for-8 in the second half to lead the Spartans (3-2) past the host Blue Devils (3-1).
The turning point came with the game tied at 41 with 3:24 to play, when 6-6 Lodi senior Peyton Fulkerson stole an inbounds pass under McFarland's basket and went the length of the court for a breakaway, two-handed slam dunk to put the Blue Devils in front. But Fulkerson received a technical foul for hanging on the rim and Lodi coach Mitch Hauser was also assessed a technical for arguing the call.
Witt made all four technical free throws to put McFarland in front for good at 45-43. Senior Nolan Splinter's layup put McFarland up by four, but Lodi pulled within 47-45 when Fulkerson answered with a layup.
McFarland held steady, though, getting single bonus free throws from junior Brandon Acker (1:18 left) and Witt (:24) and a pair of bonus free throws from senior Benjamin Rounds (:10.1).
Lodi had a turnover, a missed bonus free throw and two missed 3-pointers in its final possessions.
